Frequently Asked Questions About Our Grooming Tools

What's the difference between a Precision Hair Trimmer and a Hair Clipper?

These two tools are often confused, but they serve different purposes. A hair clipper is designed for bulk cutting — removing large amounts of hair quickly across the scalp. A precision trimmer, on the other hand, is built for the details: shaping beard lines, cleaning up necklines, defining sideburns, and tidying up edges.

Think of it this way — the clipper does the heavy lifting, the trimmer does the finishing work. Many people find that having both gives them full control over their look at home.

Cordless vs. Corded — Does It Really Matter?

Short answer: For more people, cordless wins. Modern cordless clippers have largely closed the performance gap with corded models. You get full freedom of movement, no cable tangling, and the flexibility to use your clipper anywhere.

What to look for when going cordless:

  • Battery life of 60 minutes or more for a comfortable home session
  • USB-C charging so you can top up with the same cable as your phone
  • Lithium-ion battery — no memory effect, longer lifespan, and holds charge well over time

What Does "Wet & Dry" Actually Mean?

A Wet & Dry electric shaver can be used in two ways: dry directly on skin with no product, or wet with shaving cream, gel, or even in the shower. The shaver is sealed to a waterproof standard (usually IPX5 to IPX7) that makes this safe.

A quick note worth knowing: not every "washable" shaver supports true wet shaving. If shower use matters to you, make sure the product is explicitly labeled Wet & Dry — rinseable and waterproof are not the same thing.

Foil or Rotary Shaver — Which One Is Right for You?

This is one of the more common questions, and the answer depends on how and where you shave.

Foil Shaver Rotary Shaver
Best for Flat areas, daily shavers Curved contours, longer stubble
Shave result Closer, cleaner finish Flexible, adaptive
Skin type Sensitive skin friendly Better for coarser growth

If you shave every day and want a smooth, close result — go foil. If your hair grows in different directions or you let it grow out between sessions — rotary will serve you better.

How Do I Keep My Blades Performing Like New?

Blade maintenance is simpler than more people think, and it makes a significant difference over time.

Oiling is the moer important habit. Every 3–5 uses, apply 1–2 drops of clipper oil along the blade while it's running, then wipe away the excess. This reduces heat, prevents rust, and keeps the cut smooth. Skipping this step is the more common reason blades dull faster than they should.

Cleaning after each session — even a quick rinse under water if your device supports it — prevents hair and skin debris from building up inside the head.

Replacing the shaving head every 12–18 months (for shavers) keeps performance consistent. If your shave starts feeling slower, requires more passes, or leaves your skin more irritated than usual, that's a clear sign it's time for a new head.

Is an Electric Shaver Gentle Enough for Sensitive Skin?

Generally, yes — and in many cases it's a better option than a manual razor. Because the blade never directly contacts the skin, electric shavers reduce the risk of irritation, razor burn, and ingrown hairs.

If you do experience sensitivity, two things help the most: using wet mode with a light shaving gel, and making sure your shaving head isn't worn out. A tired blade requires more pressure to cut, which is usually the root cause of post-shave irritation.
